My visit July 2011

Visited on7th July and as I had young family opted to do a couple of hours early in the morning and the evening. Permit cost for the day was £10 which is excellent for fishing the bank.

Arrived at the larger Loch at around 5.30AM and parked at the boathouse, a light breeze kept the midges away!.... decided to work my way down the "non road" shore due to wind direction, casting 3 flies: Bibio, Kate McLaren and a Daiwl Bach variant with red Biots on the point off a dry line. After half an hour or so I nailed my first fish - on the point fly and pretty static - a nice brown was sonn landed of around a pound and a half and safely returned.

Re: My visit July 2011

After passing the island, I spotted a fish turning at about 20 yards and covered it, the fish rose to the fly but missed completely. I worked the bank for a while but to no avail. I returned to teh spot where I had missed the take and traded on to dries: 2 CDCs and a hopper on the point. I punched them out and left them in the wave. Nothing. after a couple of minutes I slowly twitched them back which induced a rise to the top dropper CDC. Fish on. second fish of the day around 1pound and a quarter. It remained cold and unfortunately no hatch and no rises to cover except the one that I saw but great prospects. At note decided to fish the smaller loch - if it's not windy, make sure you have a midge net or you will be eaten! unfortunately it went flat calm with little action... I turned half a dozen fish but quite small and managed to winkle one out - again on the DB - around a pound. All in all Great fun
